2015 STEM Summer Day Camps

STEM Camps are open to students whose families are residents of Stafford County.  Students will explore topics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through projects, games, crafts and activities. Camps are designed to be fun and educational; they are taught by licensed teachers from Stafford County Public Schools.

Score An "A" Score a Ticket Program
Show the Richmond Flying Squirrels how hard you work during the school year!

For every "A" a student earns on his or her current K-12 report card during the 3rd and 4th marking period, he or she will earn a FREE General Admission ticket to a regular season Richmond Flying Squirrels game in 2015!  Each "A" on a report card is good for one ticket per game - if a student receives 8 A's then he or she will receive 8 General Admission tickets to 8 different games!

Receive your FREE tickets by bringing your report card to our Front Office or Box Office on game day!  *Ticket is good for student only. Free tickets are based upon availability.

Stafford County High School Graduations Scheduled for Saturday, June 13

All Stafford County high schools will host graduation ceremonies at their schools on Saturday, June 13, 2015.  More than 2,000 county students will participate in the ceremonies.  More...News Release 14-67

 
VIRTUAL SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES FOR RISING 9TH THROUGH 12th GRADE STUDENTS!

Earth Science, Algebra 1, and English 11, Economics & Personal Finance, World History to 1500 will be offered as virtual courses for students seeking one unit of new credit, or for students who have failed a course and would like to receive one unit of credit.

While students will not have to report daily to a classroom for these virtual courses, all courses will start on Monday, June 22, and be completed by Thursday, August 13.  Only three (3) face to face meetings.  Each course will be facilitated on-line by a Stafford County Public Schools teacher. Stafford County Schools Announce Honors and Excellence Awards for 2015

Stafford County Schools is proud to present the 2015 Honors and Excellence Awards.  These awards include our Principal of the Year, Teachers of the Year, Service Employees of the Year, Assistant Principal of the Year, Counselor of the Year and First Class New Teacher of the Year.

Stafford County Public Schools announced the selection of Anne E. Moncure Elementary School’s Principal, Greg Machi as the 2015 Principal of the Year.  The Washington Post also recognized Mr. Machi as one of their 2015 Distinguished Educational Leadership Awards recipients. 

Mark Hughes from Mountain View High School was selected as the 2015 Teacher of the Year.  The Washington Post also recognized him as The Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher recipient for Stafford County acknowledging teachers who work hard to ensure children receive a high-quality education. 

Other 2015 annual honors and awards include:
  • Terri Rivero from Rodney Thompson Middle School as Assistant Principal of the Year
  • Sharon Hayward from Anne E. Moncure Elementary School as the "First Class Teacher of the Year"
  • Susan Biggs from Stafford High School as Counselor of the Year

Stafford County Schools also selected the 2015 Service Employees of the Year.  The four finalists are:
  1. Karen Miller, Administrative Assistant of the Year -- Karen was selected to receive the Service Employee of the Year vehicle provided by Apple Federal Credit Union.  This vehicle is provided for the use of the service employee and his or her work site for the entire year!
  2. Lupe Keitz, Instructional Support Person of the Year
  3. Barbara Majors, Service Support Person of the Year
  4. Deborah N. McCue, Professional and Technical Support Person of the Year

2015 SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM INFORMATION

During the summer of 2015, Stafford County Public Schools will offer academic classes for new and repeat credit, and driver’s education (both classroom and Behind the Wheel).  Information about the SOL remediation/test review for students, who pass a class but fail the SOL test, as well as the Jump Start program, are also included.  Please use the link below for program information.

PRE-REGISTRATION:  April 27 through June 8 in the high school or middle school counseling centers.  The only exception is registration for Behind the Wheel.  Please see the Behind the Wheel Summer Program flyer for the three specific dates (May 6, May 20 and June 17) and sites for registration of this particular summer program.
2015 STEM Summer Day Camps

This summer three camps will be offered:  Beginning Robotics; Maker Camp; and SeaPerch:  Build Your Own Submersible Vehicle. Dates, hours and tuition vary for each camp. Parents will need to provide transportation to and from the camp site at the stated times. Payment must accompany registration. Spaces are limited -- students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Camps may be canceled due to low registration.  The deadline to register for STEM camps has been extended to June 10th.  The SeaPerch Camp is full.
2014-2015 SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT INVOLVEMENT SURVEY

All parents of school-aged children and youth who receive special education services in Virginia’s schools are encouraged to complete the Virginia Department of Education’s annual Parent Involvement Survey. This survey is not intended to measure satisfaction with the special education program. It is designed to determine whether or not the school facilitated parent involvement. The English and Spanish versions of the survey have been combined into one survey with both languages.

2015-2016 In-County Student Transfer Window is Now Open

The in-county student transfer window for the 2015-16 school year is now open.  The transfer window will close on August 1, 2015.  Stafford County Public Schools will accept transfers for the 2015-16 school year within this timeframe.  To find information about how to apply for a student transfer, click here.

Drew Middle School's first year of operation was in 1975. Prior to the school being a middle school, it was the original Stafford High School. Drew was named after Mr. Edward E. Drew, Jr. – have you ever wanted to know more about him?
